Acerca de Saints Row Expansion Pass
I came into the Saints Row Expansion Pass already knowing the reboot had a rocky reception, so my expectations were calibrated accordingly. What I found was a bundle that lands one solid punch and spends the other two swinging at air. The pass unlocks three separate episodes for the 2022 Saints Row reboot. First up is The Heist and the Hazardous, a story beat built around getting revenge on an in-universe celebrity named Chris Hardy. The concept has enough personality to promise a good time, but the delivery is brutally short. We're talking roughly one hour of content, and even within that runtime one mission feels like padding. It supports both solo and co-op play and drops a new weapon and helicopter into your arsenal, but there isn't much here to chew on once the credits roll. The second episode, Doc Ketchum's Murder Circus, pivots away from story missions entirely and leans into a combat-trial format. If you want to test out some weird new weapons against waves of enemies, it scratches that specific itch. The problem is that some enemy types are genuinely tedious to fight, built around waiting for weak spots to appear rather than rewarding smart play. Going through those challenges more than once or twice is a tough ask, and the replay hook needed to justify a trial-based mode just isn't strong enough. The third and final episode, A Song of Ice and Dust, is where the pass actually earns some goodwill. It continues the LARPing storyline from the base game, the one where your Boss and crew play out a live-action fantasy battle across Santo Ileso. This is the part of Saints Row 2022 that felt most connected to the irreverent spirit of older entries in the series, and this expansion doubles down on that energy. You get five new campaign missions, a brand new enemy faction called the Frostlanders, four new vehicles, and more than 20 additional outfits. The Banhammer weapon, unlocked during the penultimate mission, is a genuine highlight and carries over into the main game's weapon wheel afterwards. The catch is that those five missions clock in at under two hours, and the new area doesn't push the map in any surprising directions. Put all three together and you're looking at around six hours of content total. That's a thin stack. The pass works best as a discounted bundle for players who loved the base game and simply want more time in Santo Ileso. If the reboot's humour or open-world formula left you cold, nothing across these three episodes will flip that opinion. Diehard fans of the LARPing sections from the main campaign will find A Song of Ice and Dust genuinely worth their time. Everyone else should consider whether the other two episodes are worth tagging along.
