Royal Battleships is a digital take on the classic pen-and-paper naval combat game. You place your fleet on a grid, then take turns firing at enemy coordinates trying to land hits before your opponent does. The interface is functional and the core loop works fine for casual play sessions. Where it falls flat is anywhere you'd want strategic depth. Ship placement is static, there are no special abilities or power-ups, and the AI doesn't seem to learn or adapt. It's purely guesswork dressed up as naval combat. If you're after a quick nostalgia hit or something to play while watching TV, it delivers that narrow thing well enough. Anyone hunting for actual tactical meat will want to look elsewhere.
