97% positive from over 1,400 Steam reviews is a number that demands attention. If you ever played Tsuki ni Yorisou Otome no Sahou, clearing your schedule for this sequel is non-negotiable.

I went in expecting a safe retread, and came out thinking Navel might have topped themselves. École de Paris is a story-rich visual novel that picks up where its acclaimed predecessor, Tsuki ni Yorisou Otome no Sahou, left off - specifically branching from that game's bad ending. Protagonist Ookura Yuusei once again dons the identity of Kokura Asahi, resuming life as a cross-dressing maid, this time in Paris so he can accompany his younger sister Risona on her fashion school studies. The premise sounds like more-of-the-same on paper, and if you walked in cold, that concern would be fair. Stick with it past the opening hours and that concern dissolves. The Paris setting does more work than a backdrop usually does in this genre. The girls-only fashion school, with its distinct European atmosphere, gives the writing room to explore identity, belonging, and the peculiar vulnerability of someone living a fabricated persona in a foreign country. The character routes vary sharply in length and depth. Risona's route in particular is substantially longer than the others, and that asymmetry is intentional: it is the emotional spine of the whole experience. Supporting heroines Meril and Bruette get their moments, but anyone here primarily for Risona will find the payoff proportionate to the investment. As a pure visual novel, the interactivity ceiling is what it always is with this style of game: you are reading, making periodic choices that branch the route, and watching your decisions carry emotional weight rather than mechanical consequence. The multiple endings give completionists genuine reasons to replay, and the full voice acting holds up well across the board. The writing, which took the top script award at a major bishoujo game ceremony, earns that distinction. Dialogue rarely feels padded, and the tonal range - from light comedic slice-of-life scenes at the school to genuinely affecting dramatic beats - is handled with more discipline than most comparable titles manage. What works against it is mostly structural. If you skipped the original Tsuki ni Yorisou Otome no Sahou, some of the emotional callbacks and character context land softer than they should. The game does not hold your hand through its own lore. Certain secondary routes also feel like they conclude just as the character is becoming interesting, which is a recurring frustration with heroine-focused VNs in general. The Paris setting, while evocative in text, is not a graphically ambitious experience, so players expecting lush scenery variety will find the visual presentation serviceable rather than spectacular. For the audience this is aimed at, none of that is disqualifying. If story-first visual novels with cross-dressing protagonists, slice-of-life comedy, and emotionally invested route structures are your thing, École de Paris delivers the category at a high level. The Steam reception reflects a fanbase that felt genuinely rewarded, not just satisfied. Go play the predecessor first if you have not. Then come here. Alex, Scout Team

Veredicto de GamerScout

Essential for fans of Navel's Tsuki ni Yorisou lineage; newcomers should play the predecessor first or risk missing half the impact.
