Nephise: Ascension is a low-key first-person adventure that doesn't pretend to be anything grander than it is. You're exploring a hand-crafted environment, solving simple puzzles, managing the occasional platforming section, and soaking in the atmosphere. There's no combat, no inventory juggling, no dialogue trees, just you, the environment, and the occasional environmental storytelling moment. It's the kind of game that works best when you're in the mood to slow down, not when you're hunting for constant stimulation. The appeal is narrow but genuine: if you liked games like The Witness or the contemplative parts of Portal, you'll find something to appreciate here.
