I went in expecting a straightforward detective story set in early 20th-century Tehran, and that's mostly what Murder In Tehran's Alleys delivers. You play Detective Afshar investigating a brutal serial killing case, moving through alleys and interrogating suspects with the point-and-click mechanics of old-school adventure games. The period setting and dark tone are refreshing compared to the usual European noir pastiche. The problem is execution. The interface feels creaky, puzzle logic doesn't always follow intuitive paths, and there's no room for player error - you can lock yourself out of solutions without warning. It's the kind of game that punishes trial-and-error instead of rewarding investigation. If you're after a slow-burn mystery with classic adventure game DNA and don't mind backtracking through clunky menus, it's playable. Just don't expect modern quality-of-life polish or a mystery that grips you by the throat.
