Long-absent Wind God returns as one of MK11's most technical and rewarding fighters, but casual players will need patience before his aerial toolkit clicks.

I'll be upfront: Fujin was the character I was most nervous about in the Aftermath lineup, and not without reason. His surface-level normals are unremarkable, and jumping into ranked with him before doing homework is a recipe for getting demolished at mid-range by opponents who know his weaknesses. Stick with it, though, and you get one of the most distinctive and genuinely fun characters NetherRealm has built in years. The core of what makes Fujin special is his aerial movement. His Sky Walk ability sends him running along the top of the screen, and it creates pressure angles that most MK11 fighters simply cannot answer cleanly. From up there he can drop straight down, cancel into a sword thrust, or come in with a dive kick, and opponents frequently have to take a gamble just to react. His Wind God variation flips the script entirely, becoming a juggle-heavy combo machine where Tornado acts as a launcher with serious corner-carry potential. Wind Walker, meanwhile, is pure relentless rushdown, including what is reportedly the only aerial parry in the entire MK11 roster. Three variations, three genuinely different gameplans, all built around the same wind-and-sword core. That is unusual depth for a single DLC character. Competitive players recognised it quickly: Fujin consistently lands inside the MK11 top-ten tier rankings, and some analyses place him top five. The flip side is that all of this comes with a real execution ceiling. His long-range wind-based attacks demand spacing discipline, and his close-range buttons are noticeably weaker than those of most roster mates. If an opponent gets in his face and stays there, Fujin has to work hard to reset to his preferred mid-range. Casual players who just want to mash through Tower of Time runs will be fine, but the wind combo strings that look spectacular in trailers require time to actually land consistently. He launched with an unintended infinite combo that the community flagged almost immediately, which NetherRealm patched out, so the version you are playing now is the cleaner, more balanced one. As a package, Fujin earns his place on the roster in a way that not every DLC character manages. He is not a guest character, he is not fan service for the sake of it. He has been absent from playable MK rosters since Armageddon, and this version gives longtime fans of the character something worth coming back for. If you already own MK11 and are looking for a character with genuine competitive upside and a moveset that rewards the time you put in, Fujin is a credible answer. If you are new to MK11 entirely, the Aftermath Kollection bundle is a more sensible entry point than buying him standalone. Alex, Scout Team
