I went in expecting a straight port job and got exactly that, which is actually what you want here. Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1+2 bundles all eight original X games (four from each collection) with minimal fiddling. The platforming is tight, the bosses are genuinely tough, and the charge shot mechanic gives you real tactical options every fight. Wall-climbing and air-dashing feel responsive even after decades. What works: each game plays like a self-contained puzzle where you pick your boss order, grab their weapons, and adapt your approach. What doesn't: the later games (X5 and X6) show age in ways the earlier entries don't, and there's no modern quality-of-life stuff like save states or difficulty modes. You're getting the games as they were, for better or worse. If you're a Mega Man fan or a platformer purist, the first four X games alone justify the collection.
