I spent my first hour with Deja Vu thinking I was softlocked by a puzzle. Turns out I just hadn't clicked the right corner of the right object. That's the MacVenture Collection in a nutshell: charming, deliberately slow, and punishing if you miss a detail. These four titles, Deja Vu, Deja Vu II, Shadowgate, and The Uninvited, are faithful ports of 1980s-90s adventure games where you click on things, read descriptions, and solve logic puzzles in noir and horror settings. The pixel-hunt gameplay feels archaic by today's standards, but that's the point. These games reward patience and methodical exploration, not reflexes. Who's this for? Exclusively for people chasing nostalgia or adventure game historians. Modern players expecting Deponia-style cinematics or streamlined UX will bounce hard. The remaster adds nothing flashy, just playable versions of genuinely interesting stories told through text and atmosphere. If you loved old Sierra or LucasArts adventures and don't mind slow burns, these are worth your time. Everyone else should skip.
