Iron Impact sits in that fuzzy territory between action game and tactical sim, letting you command units in real-time but pause to issue orders without losing momentum. It's the kind of game that scratches a very specific itch: you want direct control over your troops, but you also want breathing room to think. The mechanics work cleanly enough, and the casual-friendly UI suggests the developers knew their audience was after something lighter than a full RTS commitment. The catch is that Iron Impact never quite becomes essential at either identity. It doesn't have the mechanical depth of a serious strategy game or the pure adrenaline rush of an action title. That said, if you've been searching for something that sits comfortably between Total War and an arcade tactics game, and you're not picky about polish or production value, this one's worth a shot for a few hours. Just don't expect it to reshape your backlog.
