I went in expecting a straightforward mini-game athletics package, and INSTANT SPORTS All-Stars mostly delivers that, a collection of track, field, and ball sports events you play through simple button timing and motion controls. The appeal is obvious for local multiplayer on Switch: basketball, volleyball, hurdles, javelin throws, and the like. Problem is execution feels uneven. Some events are snappy and satisfying; others feel sluggish or demand too much precision for what should be pick-up-and-play fun. There's no online play, so this lives or dies on split-screen couch parties. If you've got a household that regularly gathers for Mario Party-style nights and you want something lighter, this scratches that itch without demanding much skill investment. Just know going in that the quality bar is lower than Nintendo's own sports offerings. Worth renting or grabbing on sale if local multiplayer is your jam.
