I went in expecting Luminous Avenger iX 2 to lean into the series' signature electricity-based combat, and it mostly does, but with a noticeably snappier pace than its predecessor. You're running through tight level design, chaining attacks, and building up special moves against colorful enemy patterns. It's competent action-platformer fare with enough visual punch to keep things engaging across a handful of stages. The catch is that this feels like a side story rather than a main event. If you've exhausted the core Gunvolt games and just want more time in that world, the campaign delivers. If you're new to the series or looking for something that pushes the formula forward, you'll probably feel the budget constraints, both in scope and in how much the game recycles its own ideas. Solid weekend material for the dedicated, not essential for anyone else.
