I'll be straight with you: Fishing Planet is one of the most committed fishing simulators on the market, and the Deluxe Starter Pack exists specifically to cut through its notoriously slow free-to-play progression wall. The base game is free, but early hours can feel like working a second job just to unlock decent gear and new waters. This pack is the shortcut that actually works, dropping you in with seven Deluxe Edition rod and reel combos covering everything from ultralight spinning setups to heavy feeder rigs, along with a curated bait inventory that includes night crawlers, bloodworms, and groundbait mixes. The simulation itself earns its reputation. Fishing Planet models fish behavior against weather patterns, time of day, water temperature, and seasonal shifts. Bait selection, cast distance, line tension, and drag settings all matter in ways that most fishing games simply ignore. You can lure-fish with crankbaits and jig heads, float-fish with a bobber and live bait, or work a feeder rig for bottom feeders - each style has distinct mechanics and calls for different rod action ratings and line weights. The first-person perspective keeps everything grounded, and while it is not the most visually spectacular game in 2025, the water rendering and ripple physics still do real work at setting the atmosphere. The pack unlocks 14-day pond passes to ten destinations spread across Missouri, New York, Colorado, North Carolina, Oregon, Florida, Alberta (Canada), Czech Republic, Netherlands, and Italy. Each location has its own fish species mix and environmental character. You also get 50 Baitcoins, a 14-day Premium account status (which meaningfully accelerates XP and credit gains), five marker buoys, five tackle setup slots, and two storage boxes with 100 slots. If you have been bouncing between the same two starter maps waiting to level up enough to afford a decent reel, this bundle breaks that loop hard. The honest downsides: the console UI - menus, inventory navigation, license management - is genuinely rough and the game has never fully fixed it since launch. The learning curve is steep and the in-game tutorials lean more on trial and error than clear instruction. The community in chat tends to be helpful, but there is no substitute for the hours of reading tooltips and gear specs you will need to invest to fish competitively. The MMO and PvP tournament modes add a social layer that casual players may find intimidating, though solo sessions are equally valid. Also worth knowing: the 14-day location passes are timed from first use, so plan your play sessions accordingly before activating the pack. For players who love gear systems, patience-based play, and the satisfaction of finally landing something enormous after learning a spot inside and out, this is a serious simulator with genuine depth. Arcade fishing fans will bounce off it. The Deluxe Starter Pack does not change what Fishing Planet fundamentally is, but it removes the part that frustrates new players most: waiting to actually play the full game.
