The full suite of FFXV story DLC in one pass - Gladio, Prompto, Ignis episodes plus Comrades multiplayer. More Chocobro content or skip it?

Final Fantasy XV's Season Pass is the extended cut nobody asked Square Enix to make mandatory - and yet here we are, genuinely glad parts of it exist. The base game shipped with a road-trip RPG that prioritized vibes and brotherhood over coherent plot, leaving several major story beats frustratingly off-screen. These DLC episodes are Square's attempt to paper over those gaps, and the results are uneven in ways that will matter a lot depending on why you loved or tolerated the main game. The episodic content is split across four of the major characters. Episode Gladiolus and Episode Prompto are the shortest of the bunch - Gladio's chapter is essentially a 90-minute brawler with a single boss loop, while Prompto's is a third-person shooter detour that recontextualizes one of the game's most rushed plot moments. Neither will change your life, but Prompto's episode in particular does meaningful character work in about two hours, which is more than a lot of 40-hour games manage. Episode Ignis is the standout. It covers the cataclysmic events of Chapter 9 from Ignis's perspective, and if you play it on Normal or above, you get a branching ending that adds genuine weight to the main game's finale. The writing rewards attention, the combat lets Ignis cook (literally and mechanically, given his Technique system), and the emotional payoff is real. Comrades, the multiplayer component, is a different beast altogether. It started as an online co-op mode where you create a custom hunter character and take on hunts with up to three other players. Post-standalone release it was folded back into the Season Pass version, and the experience is rough around the edges - matchmaking is inconsistent, the gear grind is real, and calling it filler-adjacent is not unfair. But for players who want to spend more time in Eos doing monster hunts with friends, it scratches that specific itch reasonably well. Just do not expect the narrative depth of the single-player episodes. From a pure value-assessment standpoint, you are buying this primarily for Episode Ignis and, to a lesser degree, Prompto. Those two episodes alone add meaningful hours of story content that reframe characters you presumably already care about. Gladio's episode is thin but inoffensive. Comrades is a side-grade that depends entirely on whether you have people to play with. The Season Pass also bundles in various cosmetic and gameplay packs - royal arms, outfits, summon upgrades - that integrate into the main game without being transformative. One honest caveat: this is DLC for a game that itself had a complicated launch history, and the season pass content assumes you have finished or are deep into the main story. Jumping into Episode Ignis without knowing what happens in Chapter 9 is like reading a plot-twist chapter of a novel first. Play the main game, care about the boys, then come back here.
