Far Cry 5 Deluxe Pack (DLC)

My honest read on the Far Cry 5 Deluxe Pack is this: the base game does nearly all the heavy lifting, and this DLC is a thin garnish on top. What you're getting is a handful of cosmetic bundles, two skinned weapons (the AR-C assault rifle and a .44 Magnum handgun with exclusive finishes), the Ace Pilot Pack with an Aerial Force outfit plus helicopter and gun skins, and the Big Game Hunter Pack with a Hunter outfit plus bow and ATV skins. Throw in some extra explosives and consumables from the Chaos and Explosive Packs, and that's essentially the box. No new missions, no new maps, no story content. If you were hoping this changes how Far Cry 5 plays, it won't. The base game itself is worth spending time on. Set in Hope County, Montana, it drops you into an open-world first-person shooter where a doomsday cult called Project at Eden's Gate has locked down the county and you're building a resistance one liberated outpost at a time. Critics at launch praised the open-world design, the chaotic sandbox freedom, and the companion AI system that lets you call in Guns for Hire ranging from a bush pilot to a bear. The mission variety is genuinely surprising, moving well past the standard formula into some odd, funny, and occasionally dark territory. Co-op through the Friends for Hire mode carries the whole campaign, which is where a lot of the replay value actually lives. The Far Cry Arcade map editor adds a community layer on top if you're the type who sticks around past the credits. With that said, the Deluxe Pack's cosmetic contents split the community pretty cleanly. The skinned AR-C and .44 Magnum look good and give you a head-start feelingwise, but Far Cry 5 showers you with weapon options fast enough that the exclusive skins stop mattering within a few hours. The outfits are only visible in co-op or cutscenes since the game runs first-person, which blunts the appeal further. Steam reviews for the pack land around 52 percent positive, which tracks: it's not broken, but it's also not a meaningful purchase for someone who just wants more game. Where this pack makes sense is a narrow window: you're buying the base game anyway, the bundle deal is steep enough to make the add-on close to free, and you're the kind of player who likes a themed loadout from session one. If you're paying a real premium specifically for this DLC, the honest answer is that the content doesn't justify it. Skip the Deluxe Pack, invest in the base game, and consider the Season Pass separately if the Hours of Darkness Vietnam DLC or Lost on Mars appeal to you as actual content extensions.
