Acerca de FAR CRY 4 Overrun (DLC)
Far Cry 4 Overrun is a multiplayer DLC add-on that expands the base game's PvP side rather than its campaign. If you skipped Far Cry 4's competitive multiplayer entirely, this probably isn't the entry point that will change your mind. But if you spent real time in Kyrat's asymmetric Battles of Kyrat mode, Overrun offers a focused shot of new content built around the Rakshasa-versus-Golden-Path faction setup that made the base game's PvP stand apart from standard shooter fare. The headlining addition is the Overrun mode itself, which tasks teams with controlling conflict zones across maps rooted in Kyrat's countryside aesthetic. It's a zone-control concept, familiar to anyone who has played objective-based shooters, but the faction twist gives it some personality. Rakshasas lean on bows, grappling hooks, and wildlife abilities while Golden Path brings conventional firearms to the fight. That asymmetry is the most interesting thing Far Cry 4's multiplayer had going for it, and Overrun leans into it across four new maps. The Buggy vehicle also joins the roster here, adding a layer of mobility that shifts how open maps feel. The problems are hard to ignore, though. Forty-three percent positive reviews on Steam is a real signal, and the issues players cite cluster around a thin content offering for the price and, more critically, a player base that was already sparse when this launched in early 2015. Multiplayer DLC lives and dies by population, and Overrun landed on shaky ground from day one. On Xbox Series X and Xbox One today, finding an active lobby in any niche PvP mode from a nine-year-old title is a genuine gamble. The four maps and single mode simply do not carry enough weight to justify the purchase if matchmaking is a ghost town. As a piece of design, the maps themselves are competently built around the zone-control concept. Sightlines, vehicle paths, and choke points feel considered rather than thrown together. The countryside Kyrat backdrop is visually distinct from urban shooter arenas. None of that matters much if the mode rarely fires up with a full lobby, but it is worth noting that the craft is there for the handful of sessions you might manage to get running. Overrun is really a product for one specific person: the Far Cry 4 fan who already owns the Season Pass or is filling it out piece by piece and wants to see everything the multiplayer side offered. For anyone else, the math is rough. There is no solo content here, and the cooperative features do not carry this DLC on their own. Approach it with realistic expectations about what a niche PvP expansion for a years-old title can deliver in 2024 and beyond.
