Engineer cards are the real wrinkle: you slot them into production or storage units to boost throughput, reduce energy draw, or unlock new recipes, but the assignment only kicks in after the current production cycle completes. That one-cycle delay forces you to plan assignments before problems arrive rather than firefighting after the fact.
