Pure roster fuel for the dedicated Sparking! ZERO player: four DLC packs covering Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero and Daima, plus a Shenron Summon shortcut that trims the grind. Skip it if the base 182 characters already have you covered.

I went in on the Sparking! ZERO Season Pass knowing exactly what Bandai Namco's post-launch DLC model looks like, and my honest read after watching the whole roadmap play out is: this is a character-expansion pass and nothing more, so make sure that's what you actually want before clicking purchase. The base game already ships with 182 fighters spanning Dragon Ball Z, Super, GT, and the movies, complete with a cost-balancing system that lets weaker characters exist alongside planet-busters, plus the satisfying Skill Count, Revenge Counter, and Short Dash mechanics that give every fight a rhythm beyond raw button-mashing. The Season Pass doesn't touch any of that core loop. What it does is extend the roster well past the 200-character mark. The four packs each have a clear theme. The first, the Hero of Justice Pack, brings eleven characters from Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, including four forms each for Gohan and Piccolo, Gamma 1, Gamma 2, and Cell Max. Packs two and three fill out the Dragon Ball Daima side: mini versions of Vegeta and Goku with their transformation trees, adult forms for each, plus Glorio, Panzy, and several Demon World fighters. The third pack also unlocked the First Demon World stage, which is the only new arena across the whole pass. A fourth pack rounds out the season, and Shallot from Dragon Ball Legends arrived as a bonus character for pass holders ahead of general release. Early access (three days prior to each drop) is bundled in throughout. The Shenron Summon bonus is the other selling point, and community reception here is split. On paper it lets you bypass the Dragon Ball collection grind to unlock currency, costumes, and characters like Goku Black. In practice, dedicated players tend to accumulate Zeni and Dragon Balls naturally through tournaments and story mode fairly fast, so the Shenron shortcut is convenience rather than necessity. If you play casually and hate grinding, it has real value. If you sink hours into the game regularly, you probably won't notice it's there. The legitimate criticism from the community is about proportion: almost everything in the Season Pass is fighters, and the stages, alternate costumes, and mode additions that fans have requested since launch are largely absent. Some corners of the player base feel strongly that characters like Gamma 1 and 2 should have been in the box from day one, and that the single new stage across three paid packs is thin. Those are fair points. Bandai Namco's post-launch support model for Dragon Ball titles has historically leaned heavy on roster padding over systemic additions, and Sparking! ZERO is following that same playbook. Whether that bothers you depends entirely on whether you want more fighters to cycle through in versus and online, or whether you want the game's modes and stages to grow. Bottom line on the pass: if you love the Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero film or got invested in the Daima anime, the character-specific packs are the strongest pull here. If you're a competitive online player who wants to cover every matchup, the expanded roster is worth the investment. If you're a casual fan who put 30 hours into the base game and moved on, the additions probably won't pull you back in. Alex, Scout Team
