Jacob is already one of Dead Island 2's strongest slayers, and this pack dresses him for the occasion - though the value lives and dies on how attached you are to cosmetics.

I'll be upfront: if you're the kind of player who sprints past character select screens and never glances at their outfit mid-rampage, the Silver Star Jacob character pack is not going to register on your radar. It's a two-item cosmetic bundle - a western-flavored skin called Rodeo Sunset for Jacob, and a weapon called the Devil's Horseshoes that any of the six slayers can equip. That's the entire content list. No new story beats, no extra abilities, no expanded skill cards. The context matters here, though. Jacob is legitimately one of the most interesting slayers in Dead Island 2's roster. His Feral innate skill stacks damage bonuses for rapid successive attacks, and Critical Gains gives him a critical damage boost when his stamina runs low - two skills that dovetail naturally into the game's aggressive, momentum-driven brawling. He's got the highest Peak Health of any slayer and plays like a reckless brawler who rewards button-mashing confidence over careful positioning. Dressing that particular character in a Rodeo Sunset getup has a certain charm to it, even if it's purely surface level. The Devil's Horseshoes being open to all six slayers is the small practical upside here. If you play as Carla, Bruno, Dani, Amy, or Ryan and still want something from this pack, you can at least equip the weapon and get some use out of it. Whether the weapon itself is strong enough to earn a regular slot in your loadout is a different question - Dead Island 2 has no shortage of melee options, and a DLC weapon arriving at launch level scaling tends to get outpaced quickly. The core issue is that cosmetic DLC packs like this one are essentially a taste test for how much goodwill you carry toward the base game. Dead Island 2 is a competent, deliberately gory zombie-slasher with a sharp sense of humor and a sun-bleached Los Angeles setting that works well for the premise. If you've put real hours into it, want to express that investment through Jacob's look, and the price point is negligible to you, this pack does exactly what it says. If you're evaluating it on content-per-dollar, it will not pass that test. This is a skip unless you're already deep in the game and specifically play as Jacob. The Rodeo Sunset look is fun, but fun cosmetics alone have a ceiling. Alex, Scout Team
