I approached Blackout Protocol expecting a lite survival sim, but what grabbed me was how much decision-making gets packed into that time pressure. You're managing cascading failures on a damaged ship, restore power to critical systems, but in what order? Prioritize life support or navigation? The prototype nature shows: depth of mechanics is real, but the overall scope feels lean. For a 2023 indie title, it does the systems-driven survival loop competently without bloat. This is squarely for players who enjoy the logic puzzle side of survival more than the crafting grind. If you've spent time in Oxygen Not Included or similar management sims, you'll recognize that satisfying click of knowing which lever to pull next. Blackout Protocol respects that same brain-space. It's short, focused, and doesn't overstay its welcome, which, honestly, is the right call for a prototype.
