I went in hoping for a fast-paced arcade action romp, and Apocalypse: Party's Over does have some earnest ideas buried in there. The core combat loop tries to be snappy, with melee-focused brawling and what looks like destructible environments. The problem is execution: the controls feel loose, enemy AI is predictable, and the whole thing lacks the polish or game feel that makes action games click. There's no clear progression hook, the level design doesn't guide you anywhere interesting, and after 30 minutes the novelty flatlines. This is indie action from an era when "made by two people in a garage" was more often an excuse than a feature. If you're hunting for obscure early-access era brawlers with weird charm, you might squeeze a session out of it. Everyone else should skip it.
