Ways of War tightens Age of Wonders 4 around two new faction forms, Ogrekin and Simians, plus the Oathsworn culture, a monastic unit line, and assassin mechanics. If you're deep in AoW4's campaign map already, these tools genuinely reshape your build paths and late-game unit compositions. The Oathsworn path in particular rewards micro-heavy players who want to lean into tactical positioning over empire-wide buffs. The catch: this is pure content-pack expansion, not a rebalance. It doesn't fix underlying AI pathfinding or multiplayer netcode issues from the base game. Solo players will find 40-60 hours of new campaign variety; multiplayer viability depends on whether your group's already committed to AoW4. Without the base game, this is pointless. With it, it's a solid mid-season refresh that respects your time investment.
