If a low-pressure afternoon with a baby boar and zero stakes sounds like exactly what you need right now, Boris has your afternoon covered. Just don't expect the scent trails to stay interesting for six-plus hours.

My first thought when I dropped into Adorable Adventures was that somebody finally made a game where the navigation is literally your nose. You play as Boris, a young wild boar separated from his family after a forest fire tears through a national park inspired by the Cévennes region of Southern France. The studio behind it, Wild Sheep Studio, is a small French team of about twelve people, and that scrappy, focused energy shows in every animation Boris pulls off - flicking his ears, sniffing the air, giving a little kick with his hind legs when he scrambles up a ledge. The character work alone does a lot of heavy lifting. The core mechanic is scent-tracking. Instead of a minimap waypoint, you read drifting, color-coded streams of particles that hang in the air and lead you toward siblings, objectives, and secrets. Early on the signals overlap and compete, which is initially chaotic but cleverly mirrors Boris's inexperience as a young boar figuring out the world. As you spend more time in the open-world map (sized well - big enough to feel like a real place, small enough not to lose yourself) the system clicks into something genuinely readable. A scent-o-meter lets you filter smells and isolate what you actually want to follow. It is a clever idea in concept, and in the first couple of hours it feels fresh. The honest caveat is that the mechanic does not evolve much after that. You are still following color bubbles in the third hour the same way you were in the first, and some reviewers have flagged that the tracking can feel obtuse when multiple scents pile up in tighter spaces. What keeps it going past that limitation is the sheer variety of optional distractions packed into the map. You can find a football and score a goal. You can wear a pair of sunglasses. There are photo challenges, tire-jumping obstacle courses, and small side quests like helping a rabbit find her babies. None of these are mechanically demanding - this game has no combat, no day/night cycle, no energy meter, no fail state of any kind. The tone is closer to A Short Hike or Alba: A Wildlife Adventure than anything with stakes. The sound design is notably strong: music surfaces when it matters rather than looping constantly, and ambient birdsong and rustling foliage do the heavy lifting between story beats. Who is this for? Parents hunting for something calm that younger kids can actually finish. Adults who want thirty to forty minutes of genuine decompression after a long day. People who find most cozy games too mechanically hollow - Boris's scent system gives just enough engagement to feel like you are playing something rather than watching it. Who should skip it? Anyone expecting mechanical depth or a runtime past four or five hours. The Steam user score sits at 93 percent positive across over 600 reviews, which lines up with the general critical consensus: warm, well-crafted, short, and not particularly ambitious outside of its core idea. The visuals are polished well beyond the game's modest scope, a reflection of director Steven ter Heide's background working on larger open-world projects. That production quality makes the brief runtime sting a little more, because the world feels like it could have held another chapter or two. Alex, Scout Team

Veredicto de GamerScout

Best for cozy-game fans and younger players who want a gentle, stress-free few hours - veterans will feel the lack of mechanical depth.
