ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE
Seven years is a long wait for another sortie, and from everything shown so far, Project Aces has used that time wisely. If Ace Combat 7 left you hungry for more, this one looks built to satisfy.
Veredicto de GamerScout
Best for Ace Combat 7 fans and arcade-flight newcomers willing to meet demanding PC hardware requirements head-on.

Acerca de ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE
I've been watching this one closely since the Game Awards reveal, and the gap since Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown in 2019 has clearly given Project Aces room to rethink a few things. The fundamentals are intact: arcade-style jet combat in the fictional Strangereal universe, mission-based structure, pre-sortie loadout selection across a roster of over 30 aircraft split into four categories. But Wings of Theve is not a copy-paste sequel. The biggest mechanical shift is how damage works. Previously you hunted for marked weak points on enemy aircraft; now hits register anywhere on a hostile plane, which changes the rhythm of a dogfight and makes every burst of cannon fire feel meaningful. On top of that, you can carry two Special Weapons simultaneously this time around, opening up more flexible approach options per sortie. The Wingman Command system also returns, drawing clear inspiration from Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War, letting you direct your "Joker Flight" squadmates across different operational roles mid-mission. The debris system is a neat wrinkle too: wreckage from downed enemies can cascade into other targets, which in a crowded furball could create some genuinely chaotic chain reactions. The story leans harder into character than anything the series has tried before. You inherit the call sign "Wings of Theve" from a propaganda myth, with the previous ace, Jan Cope, riding along in real time during missions to narrate the world and your squadmates. First-person cinematic sequences sit between the action to carry that narrative weight. Whether the writing delivers is something only post-launch reviews will settle, but structurally it is the most ambitious story setup the franchise has attempted. On PC, brace yourself for stiff requirements. Wings of Theve is the first Ace Combat built on Unreal Engine 5, and ray tracing is non-optional, tied to the Lumen lighting system. You will need a ray tracing-compatible GPU, an SSD with 125 GB free, and the game requires Windows 11. Recommended specs for 1080p at 60 FPS point to an RTX 3070 or RX 6800 XT with upscaling enabled, and 32 GB of system RAM is the suggested target. That is a meaningful hardware bar compared to AC7, so check your rig before committing. Denuvo DRM is also confirmed, which is worth knowing if that affects your purchasing decisions. The multiplayer side, branded ACE COMBAT ONLINE, introduces the series' first proper online lobby where you explore an air base with a custom avatar before jumping into matches. Cross-play and co-op are both in. For a franchise that has historically treated multiplayer as an afterthought, this is a genuine structural upgrade, though lobby-based social spaces live and die by population numbers post-launch. Who is this for? Returning AC7 fans, people who grew up with the PS2-era entries, and anyone who wants a cinematic action flight game that does not demand sim-level expertise. If you have never touched Ace Combat, this is a reasonable starting point. If you are a hardcore flight sim player expecting study-level systems, this has never been that series and it is not starting now.
