When people search "next steam sale date," they usually want one thing: a number they can put on the calendar so they stop overpaying. Good news, the calendar is no longer a mystery. Valve publishes its schedule months ahead, so you can plan around it instead of refreshing the store and hoping.

The next major Steam sale is the 2026 Steam Summer Sale running from June 25 to July 9, and the next Steam Next Fest begins June 15 and runs until June 22, 2026. The Summer Sale is Valve's biggest discount event of the year; it starts at 10 AM Pacific Time on June 25 and ends at the same time on July 9, providing two weeks for users to buy discounted games.

The Summer and Winter sales are the big ones and tend to last two weeks (ish), while the smaller Spring and Autumn sales, along with the genre Fests, all last about a week. There's a catch worth knowing about the autumn and winter events. With Autumn and Winter sales following so close on the heels of fall release season, there tend to be fewer big, recent titles with hefty discounts. How deep do the cuts go? In a strong summer event, indie games can drop as low as 90% off, AAA titles hit 50 to 70% off, and games that only discount once or twice a year all go on sale at the same time. That's the real value of a seasonal sale: everything on your list moves at once.

How to actually save money in the next Steam sale

A sale date is only useful if you shop smart once it's live. Here's the playbook I use, and recommend to anyone browsing our full price-comparison catalog.

1. Build a wishlist before June 25

This is the single highest-value move. Adding games to a Steam wishlist before the sale starts will send notifications when those titles go on sale. A wishlist also doubles as a discipline tool: if a game isn't on your list, ask why you're buying it during a two-week dopamine festival.

Good candidates to wishlist now? Genre cornerstones that show up in most sales. A strategy anchor like Age of Empires IV, a survival-horror standout like Darkest Dungeon: Ancestral Edition, or a big open-world swing like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl are exactly the kind of titles that resurface event after event.

2. Don't rush the buy button

3. Check price history, not just the discount tag
