GamerScout Verdict
A breezy 15-hour action romp with charm to spare, but not enough narrative meat to justify a replay.

About Samurai Maiden
I went in expecting a time-travel romp through Honnō-ji, and Samurai Maiden delivers exactly that premise without overthinking it. You're a modern woman with sword skills dropped into the Sengoku period, teaming up with three ninja companions to fight corpses in an underworld dungeon crawler. The core combat is straightforward hack-and-slash with light RPG progression, and the character banter has enough personality to keep you interested between encounters. It's the kind of game that knows what it is and doesn't pretend to be something grander. The catch: this is solidly mid-tier territory. The dungeon layouts repeat, side quests lack narrative weight, and the writing never quite reaches the charm it's aiming for. If you want a short 15-20 hour action game with a fun premise and you're okay with combat-heavy filler between story beats, you'll find something here. Just don't expect the character arcs or world-building depth that would make you want to replay it.
