A genuinely charming 3D platformer that earns its high Steam rating, but plays best with a friend beside you, not a solo grind against easy levels.

I came into this one with mild skepticism, mostly because Sony's PC ports have a mixed track record, but Sackboy: A Big Adventure is one of the cleaner arguments that the LittleBigPlanet lineage still has legs. Sumo Digital moved the series fully into 3D, and the transition works: you jump, dodge, grab enemy tails, and attack your way through five distinct worlds inside Craftworld, chasing down the villain Vex who has kidnapped the local population to build his Topsy-Turver doomsday machine. The story is pure backdrop, aimed squarely at younger players, but the level design is where the real craft lives. Level variety is the game's sharpest weapon. Some stages play like a clean 3D platformer, others go on-rails, and then there are the music levels, which are genuinely memorable. Whole stages are choreographed to licensed pop tracks like "Uptown Funk" and "Toxic," with platforms, props, and enemies moving to the beat. That design thread runs through the whole game and gives it an identity that plenty of its genre peers lack. The campaign runs roughly 10-12 hours, and collectible Dreamer Orbs, Collectibells, and time trial challenges can push completionists well beyond that. A huge cosmetic wardrobe including iconic PlayStation character skins (Aloy, Ellie, and others) is available, and none of it is locked behind a paywall. The co-op is where the game goes from good to its best version. The whole campaign supports up to four players locally or online, and there are 10 dedicated Teamwork Levels, two per world, that genuinely require coordination. You can stack players into a Sack Totem to reach higher platforms, throw teammates to unreachable spots, or just slap Collectibells out of a friend's hands for sport. Drop-in/drop-out works cleanly, and catch-up mechanics mean less experienced players do not become a liability. No crossplay between PC and PlayStation is a real omission if your co-op circle is split across platforms, but PC-to-PC online works fine. The PC port itself launched with noticeable shader compilation stutter, which frustrated early players. Post-launch patches addressed this, and the current build runs considerably smoother. If you have a capable rig, uncapped frame rates and optional ray tracing make this the sharpest-looking version of the game, though the ray tracing impact is modest given the crafted, fabric-textured art style. Keyboard and mouse works, but a controller is the obvious choice; a DualSense unlocks haptic feedback that adds a small but real layer of tactile feedback to every jump and hit. Solo play is perfectly functional, but the difficulty curve is gentle enough that experienced platformer players may find it too breezy. If you want a challenge-first platformer, this is not your pick. If you want something to share with a less experienced player, a younger family member, or anyone who appreciates music-driven design, the value proposition is strong. Alex, Scout Team
