About RTS Commander: Smash the Rebels
I approached RTS Commander expecting a stripped-down real-time strategy game, which it is, but "stripped-down" here means there's barely anything underneath. You build bases, train units, and push into enemy territory across a handful of maps, but the decision tree is almost nonexistent. Unit types are minimal, base customization is rigid, and the AI rarely forces you to think more than one move ahead. The 2018 indie aesthetic feels budget-conscious rather than intentionally retro, and the campaign amounts to repeating the same objectives across different colored terrain. If you're looking for an entry-level RTS to understand base mechanics or unit counters, there are vastly better free-to-play options available right now. RTS Commander exists in that awkward space where it's too shallow for strategy veterans and too dated for newcomers shopping by reviews. Skip it. Diego, Scout Team
