Compare Iron Sky: Invasion prices across trusted key stores and find the best deal. Developed by Reality Pump. Published by TopWare Interactive. Released on 12/13/2012. Available on PC. Genres: Action, Simulation, Strategy.

A 2012 space-combat sim where you pilot upgradeable fighters against lunar invaders in an open-world battlefield. Niche but mechanically sound if you tolerate its age.

I approached Iron Sky: Invasion expecting a tie-in cash grab. What I found was a competent top-down space-combat sim with actual progression depth. You pilot interceptors across an open orbital arena, hunting enemy convoys and fortifications while managing fuel, weapon loadouts, and ship upgrades. The loop is straightforward: fly patrol routes, engage targets, return to base, reinvest salvage into better engines and armaments. Decision-making exists in build prioritization and engagement tactics, though the AI isn't sophisticated enough to punish sloppy play. The core mechanics hold up reasonably well twelve years later. Difficulty scaling works, controller support is solid, and the upgrade tree gives you meaningful choices about how to specialize. The limiter: the premise wears thin fast, visuals haven't aged gracefully, and there's no depth to the campaign structure itself. It's a pure mechanical experience, which means if you're hunting a space-combat sandbox with light strategy elements and don't mind rough presentation, this is worth a weekend. If you need story hooks or cutting-edge spectacle, move on. Diego, Scout Team

GamerScout Verdict

Mechanically sound space-combat sandbox for players who value progression systems over presentation or narrative depth.
