About Hexologic
I'm usually skeptical of Sudoku variations, but Hexologic nails the fundamentals. You fill hexagonal grids with numbers 1-3 constrained by sums on the edges, exactly like classic Sudoku's row-column rules but on a more forgiving scale. The puzzles start trivial and scale linearly into genuinely meaty mid-game challenges that require forward-planning and constraint elimination. No leaderboards, no time pressure, no nonsense, just clean logic gates that click when you've threaded the constraints correctly. The presentation is understated: muted pastels, ambient soundscaping, a level editor for custom puzzles. It's aggressively non-demanding in the best way. This is perfect for players who want tactical thinking without the performance anxiety of roguelikes or the fiddly micromanagement of 4X games. If you've ever enjoyed a Picross or nonogram, you'll recognize the brain-state Hexologic triggers. Don't expect a 40-hour grind; expect 6-8 hours of sustained, solvable satisfaction.
