Floor Is Lava
A 2D platformer where you're fleeing an erupting volcano, but the mechanics feel underbaked for the price.

About Floor Is Lava
I went in expecting a straightforward dodge-and-jump affair, which Floor Is Lava technically delivers. You're escaping a volcano in 2D space, jumping between platforms and obstacles as lava rises. The core loop is there: reach the exit, don't touch hazards, repeat across multiple levels. The problem is execution. The platforming feels sluggish, hitboxes are forgiving to the point of removing tension, and level design doesn't create the escalating challenge you'd want from a sub-$5 indie title. For a strategy player like me, there's no real decision tree here, no builds to plan, no meaningful risk-reward tradeoffs. It's pure reflex platforming, which is fine, but the game doesn't excel at that core discipline. The visuals are basic, progression feels flat, and there's no hook compelling enough to justify multiple playthroughs. If you want tight 2D platforming, check Steam's back catalogue first.
