Three space-themed weapons, a stat-boosting astronaut suit, and a lunar rover buggy skin dropped into one of the best zombie sandboxes ever built. Niche, but sharper than it looks.

I will be upfront: if you do not already own Dying Light, fix that first, because the Astronaut Bundle is a DLC conversation starter, not a standalone experience. What the base game gives you is a first-person parkour-and-survival loop set in Harran, a quarantined city where the infected own the streets at night and clever players own the rooftops at all times. The day-night cycle is still one of the best tension mechanics Techland ever shipped. Daytime is scavenger-mode, where you raid apartments, craft weapon mods, and build up your Survivor, Agility, and Power skill trees at a comfortable pace. Nighttime flips a switch: the Volatiles wake up, your stamina matters more, and suddenly every rooftop gap feels personal. It is the kind of loop that rewards players who read the tooltips and punishes those who do not. The Astronaut Bundle slots three weapons into that loop, and two of them have real mechanical teeth. The V-23 Eraser is a laser rifle whose ammunition has a solid chance to ignite enemies at range, which pairs extremely well with the game's crowd-control philosophy. The star of the pack, though, is the V-40 Suspender pistol: its final round in the magazine freezes a target in place, functioning like a stasis trap. Critically, this works on Volatiles too, which means it transitions from novelty to genuine escape tool the moment night falls. The V-27 Shifter machete rounds out the weapons with an effect that shifts after consecutive hits, rewarding committed melee strings over panic-swinging. None of these are game-breaking at high character levels, but they add flavour and utility in the mid-game window where weapon variety feels most meaningful. The V-9 Defender Suit is the bundle's quiet MVP. Fall damage reduction sounds boring on paper, but Dying Light is a game where you are constantly launching yourself off buildings to stay ahead of hordes or reach drop-kick angles. Having that passive buffer frees up inventory slots you would otherwise burn on medkits. The V-39 Star Rover buggy skin is purely cosmetic, designed to look like a lunar rover, and it is charming in a low-effort-but-I-appreciate-it way. If you use the buggy regularly in the Old Town area, you will see it often enough for it to matter to you personally. To put the base game in context for anyone still on the fence about the whole package: Dying Light carries an 87 on Metacritic and sits at 95% positive across nearly half a million Steam reviews, which is a number that does not happen by accident. Community praise consistently lands on the parkour traversal, four-player co-op, and the tactile weight of crafted melee weapons. The justified criticisms point at a story that never quite matches the world's atmosphere, human AI that struggles in open spaces, and a mid-game XP plateau that starts to feel like padding for players who sprint through main quests and skip side content. Those criticisms are real. The story of Kyle Crane is serviceable, not memorable, and if you come in expecting Disco Elysium-level writing you will be disappointed fast. Come in expecting a kinetic action sandbox with a brutally effective day-night hook and you will get exactly that. The Astronaut Bundle is for players who are already invested in Dying Light and want to push a fresh playthrough with a mechanically distinct loadout. The stasis pistol alone earns its keep as a tool that changes how you approach Volatile encounters at night. For completionists and co-op regulars who want their buggy to look like it belongs on the Moon, the cosmetic layer is a low-stakes bonus. If you are a newcomer, prioritize the base game or the Enhanced Edition before touching any bundle content. Monika, Scout Team

Worth it for active Dying Light players who want a mechanically useful mid-game kit; skip if you do not own the base game yet.
