Dead Weight

Dead Weight threw me off at first. The premise sounds like a pitch-perfect steampunk roguelite, but what you're actually getting is a turn-based tactical game where the battlefield is so cramped that positioning becomes your entire strategy. You pick a class, sail between islands looting what you can, then face off against the Ancient Gods in combat scenarios where moving one hex left instead of right can win or lose you the fight. The 94% Steam consensus backs this up: people are responding to the tightness of it, the way every turn *counts* rather than devolving into ability spam. It's short by design, which is refreshing. There's no filler, no endless grinding to hit some XP threshold. The roguelite loop keeps it replayable, and class variety seems to hold up across runs if the community's saying anything. If you want a strategy game that fits into your evening without demanding 80 hours, Dead Weight respects that boundary.
