I went in expecting pure hack-and-slash, but Darksiders pulls from a bunch of places. War tears through demons with heavy, satisfying melee combat that feels weighty and deliberate. The puzzles break up the fighting in ways that actually make sense level-to-level, and the art direction nails that gritty apocalyptic vibe without trying too hard. It's a remaster of a 2010 original, so don't expect cutting-edge anything. Some boss fights drag, the camera can be stubborn, and it doesn't reinvent the action-adventure wheel. But if you like games that respect your time and don't pretend to be something they're not, there's a solid 10-15 hour experience here. The story's straightforward fun, and War's got real character.
