BOK-BOK: A Chicken Dating Sim
A novelty puzzle-dating hybrid that fully commits to its absurd poultry premise - short, cheap, and oddly charming for the five minutes it asks of you.

About BOK-BOK: A Chicken Dating Sim
My spreadsheet instincts told me to skip this one. A chicken dating sim from a developer called TheDollarGameStore, priced accordingly, with a runtime that fits between two coffee cups. I ran the numbers anyway, and here is what I found: BOK-BOK is not trying to be anything more than a micro-burst of absurdist comedy wrapped around a light puzzle mechanic, and on that razor-thin brief it mostly delivers. The core loop puts you in the feathers of Henry Cock, a rooster trying to win over three hens. Each hen represents a distinct date scenario with her own personality and a specific twist on the central puzzle format, which leans into match-3 territory with its own small wrinkles layered on top. There is no build order to optimise, no tech tree, no late-game scaling curve. The decision-making sits entirely in the moment-to-moment puzzle solving, and the difficulty ceiling is low enough that a player who has never touched a puzzle game in their life will clear all three routes in a single sitting. That is a feature and a flaw simultaneously. What keeps it from being completely disposable is the tone. The developer leans hard into the meme-aware, self-deprecating humour that the Steam tags hint at. Mild innuendo runs throughout, never crossing into anything genuinely offensive, and the pixel art presentation is clean for its budget. The one Steam Achievement is presumably for finishing the game, which tells you everything about the scope of progression on offer. There is no mod ecosystem, no AI worth analysing, no late-game to speak of. From a strategy-and-sim lens, the "Strategy" genre tag on the store page is doing a lot of heavy lifting for very little mechanical substance. Who actually should pick this up? Anyone wanting a five-to-ten-minute palate cleanser between longer sessions, or a novelty gift-a-game candidate for a friend with a specific sense of humour. The 100% positive review rate from the small player base confirms that people who go in knowing what it is come out satisfied. Go in expecting Stardew Valley-style relationship depth or a puzzle game with meaningful mechanical progression and you will close the window before the first hen appears. There is exactly one layer to this onion, and the joke is the whole product. At sub-dollar pricing that is a fair exchange, but only if you are buying the bit, not the game. Diego, Scout Team
