GamerScout Verdict
A case study in wasted potential; skip this broken sci-fi shooter and play literally any other Aliens game instead.

About Aliens: Colonial Marines Collection
I went in expecting a solid Aliens co-op romp, but Aliens: Colonial Marines is a cautionary tale about marketing hype crushing reality. The gunplay feels sluggish, enemy AI is laughably broken (xenomorphs often stand still waiting to be shot), and the visual downgrade from pre-release footage is staggering. Single-player campaign is a slog through repetitive corridors with forgettable set pieces, and multiplayer modes don't salvage the core problem: the game just isn't fun to play. The co-op structure sounds good on paper - team up as Marines and fight waves of aliens - but it doesn't redeem the weak encounter design or technical jank. If you're chasing Aliens nostalgia, Alien vs. Predator 2 (2001) or even Left 4 Dead 2 with alien mods will treat you better. This one's a relic of a botched launch, not worth your time in 2024.
