The Spatials puts you in charge of a ramshackle space station in 5781, and the loop is genuinely satisfying: hire staff to run shops and facilities, attract visitors for cash, spend that cash exploring new planets. There's no combat or narrative pressure, just the quiet pleasure of watching your little corner of the galaxy grow. The exploration feeds back into station upgrades in a way that feels purposeful rather than grindy, and the pixel art is earnest without being precious. The trade-off is scope. This isn't a sprawling colony sim or a deep management system, it's tighter, more puzzle-like. If you want Factorio-level optimization or Oxygen Not Included's chaos, you'll bounce off. But if you're after a game that respects your time and lets you zone out to incremental progress, this scratches that itch cleanly. Nine years old and still underrated.
