Solid dirt bike sim with a surprisingly gentle learning curve for newcomers, but series veterans will feel like they just bought last year's entry with a fresh coat of mud.

My Saturday night crew has a saying: if a sports game can survive four players crammed on a couch, it probably deserves to exist. Supercross 6 earns that right, just barely, and almost entirely on the back of its actual riding mechanics. Milestone has spent six entries refining how a 450SX bike feels ripping through whoops and launching off stadium ramps, and the result is genuinely good. Weight shifting through corners, sticking landings after big jumps, scrubbing speed before a tight inside line - these are things you actually think about on every lap, and they reward practice in a way that keeps experienced riders in a flow state. The bike audio is particularly strong; loud, guttural engine roar that makes even a mediocre lap feel like a highlight reel. For newcomers, the entry ramp is friendlier here than in any previous numbered entry. The Supercross Academy, guided by seven-time champion Jeremy McGrath, walks you through the fundamentals step by step - perfect starts, whips, scrubs, weight distribution. A broad set of riding assists covers auto steering, auto brakes, auto throttle, and flow recovery, meaning a total first-timer can dial things down and actually finish races without rage-quitting. The revamped AI difficulty is a genuine win too: Very Easy now means Very Easy, giving green riders some breathing room instead of constantly embarrassing them. Crank it up to Realistic and the AI will punish every sloppy corner. The spread is well-calibrated for both ends of the skill spectrum. The career mode is the meat of the solo experience. You build a custom rider, earn contracts from real-world teams and sponsors across the 250SX and 450SX classes, manage an injury system that docks your rider's physical stats when you crash too hard, and spend ability points on a skill tree. It is deep enough to hold your attention for tens of hours. The new Supercross Park free-roam area - split across five distinct zones including a mountain peak and a dilapidated airport - provides a decent pressure-valve when stadium racing starts to feel repetitive. Head there to heal injuries through training sessions or just to mess around on jumps with friends online. For the couch crowd: split-screen is confirmed and the new Rhythm Attack mode, a quick 1v1 single-elimination drag race on a straight rhythm section, is exactly the kind of stupid-fun format that works at 11pm with snacks on the table. Rhythm Attack is offline only, which blunts its appeal, but it does the job for local head-to-heads. The honest concern, and critics were pretty clear about it, is that Supercross 6 is a modest refinement over Supercross 5, which was a modest refinement over Supercross 4. If you own a recent entry and are not obsessive about the updated 2022 AMA rider roster and track list, there is almost nothing here that will feel transformative. Some glitches still bite - getting snagged on small track objects and burning rewinds while the field laps you is genuinely annoying. The stadium visuals repeat the same muddy texture layouts across events, and the licensed rock soundtrack is generic enough that swapping it for your own playlist is a reasonable move. The Track Editor and Helmet Editor round out the package for creative players who want to share custom circuits and designs with the community cross-platform. Riley, Scout Team
