The idea of building a regional bloc, leveraging South American manpower and raw materials, and carving out an alternate WWII timeline from the Southern Hemisphere is exactly the kind of lateral thinking that keeps HOI4 fresh after hundreds of hours.

The execution, however, is where the spreadsheet tells a hard story. At 29% positive across nearly 2,500 Steam reviews, Trial of Allegiance sits in "Mostly Negative" territory, which is a significant warning flag for any Paradox DLC. Community criticism clusters around a few consistent themes: the focus trees feel shallow compared to what similar-tier DLC has delivered for European majors, the unique decisions and events lack the branching depth that justifies the price of entry, and the AI handling of these nations in non-player games remains unconvincing.
