A bite-sized cosmetic DLC that dresses Kyle Crane in a Wild West sheriff outfit and hands you three weapon blueprints - worthwhile only if you're already deep in Dying Light's parkour loop.

I have a soft spot for Dying Light's weapons-crafting system, so when a DLC drops three new blueprints into the mix I pay attention - even if the bundle is light on content by any measure. The Vintage Gunslinger Bundle is a purely cosmetic-and-gear package for the base game: a sheriff outfit for protagonist Kyle Crane, blueprints for three weapons (the Oathbreaker shotgun, the Onyx Thunderbolt revolver, and the Deputy long knife), plus a Golden Bull buggy skin that is locked behind owning The Following expansion. The thematic hook is a nod to Techland's own Call of Juarez series, and that cross-franchise wink is genuinely charming if you know the reference. What the bundle is not is a content expansion. There are no new areas, no story missions, no new enemy types. If you were hoping for something that changes how Dying Light plays, this will disappoint fast. The three weapon blueprints slot into the game's familiar crafting loop - scavenge materials, upgrade at a workbench, build something with enough impact to feel satisfying against the city's infected hordes - but the Gunslinger tools do not meaningfully extend build variety past what the base game already offers by hour 20. They are fun novelties, not meta-shifting tools. That said, the base game they sit inside remains one of the most kinetically satisfying open-world survival games released in the last decade. The three-track XP system (Strength for melee, Agility for parkour, Survivor for crafting recipes) still holds up, and the day-night cycle that turns casual zombie roaming into a genuine threat at sundown is the kind of design decision that never gets old. Ranged combat works differently here than in most zombie games - guns drop infected fast but act as a dinner bell, pulling every nearby infected toward your position, so using the Onyx Thunderbolt revolver from this bundle is always a calculated risk rather than a simple power move. That tension is exactly what makes adding new firearms interesting, even minor ones. Who is this DLC for? Completionists who want every craftable blueprint in the journal, players who enjoy roleplaying a specific character aesthetic, and Techland fans who caught the Call of Juarez Easter eggs in the base game's Gunslinger side quest. For everyone else, the bundle's value is thin unless it comes as part of a wider edition. The buggy skin requiring The Following is a mildly irritating asterisk worth knowing before purchase. No new narrative, no branching content, no reason to reinstall the game solely for this - but if you are already mid-playthrough and want a revolver with some personality, the Onyx Thunderbolt does look great.
