Cabela's® Dangerous Hunts 2013 Demo
Forget the Cabela's branding; this is an arcade FPS where lions ambush you and a shotgun is your best friend. Worth booting the demo before committing to the full game.
Veredicto de GamerScout
A free demo worth an hour if you want arcade FPS chaos with a friend, but seasoned sim hunters should look elsewhere.

Acerca de Cabela's® Dangerous Hunts 2013 Demo
My first honest reaction when loading this up was mild whiplash. You expect patient, methodical hunting, and instead you get a linear FPS where waves of hyenas, leopards, and buffalo are trying to eat your face. Once you reset expectations, the demo actually gives you a fair sample of what the full game is doing across its three modes: Story, Maneater, and Shooting Gallery. Story mode is the meat. You play as Jacob Jones, moving through exotic locations from Alaska to Africa, and the game leans hard into survival action rather than sport. Your loadout includes a Desert Eagle with unlimited ammo, a pump-action shotgun, a scoped bolt-action rifle, and a crossbow, each useful in different situations. The standout mechanic is "Killer Instinct": when an animal charges from behind, a warning fires on screen and you trigger a slow-motion spin to nail the attacker before it lands. It sounds gimmicky and it sort of is, but it adds a genuine pulse-raising moment to what could be a flat corridor shooter. The Prowler AI system is marketed as giving predators pack tactics and ambush behavior, and to its credit, animals do flank and coordinate rather than just charge front-on. That said, clipping issues and inconsistent hit feedback blunt the tension. Maneater mode is the one to watch for couch sessions. It is a wave-survival arena with split-screen co-op for two players, basically a Horde mode reskin with predators instead of soldiers. It is not deep, but two people on a couch shouting at a charging grizzly is a solid twenty minutes of fun. Shooting Gallery rounds things out as a pure on-rails score-chaser that supports up to four players taking turns, which makes it the most accessible mode for mixed groups. Controls on PC default to a snap-to targeting assist that works fine with a gamepad; no light gun required here, obviously. The honest criticisms are real though. Visuals are uneven, enemies vanish on death with no satisfying feedback, and the voice acting is stiff. The story mode is short, and the overall package feels like a mid-budget licensed title rather than something that would compete on its own merits without the Cabela's name attached. GameStop scored it two stars out of five, which is harsh but not entirely unfair if you came in expecting a hunting sim. If you came in expecting a low-stakes arcade FPS with a novelty co-op mode, you will land somewhere around "decent enough." The demo is free and gives you a real look at the core loop. Run it, try Maneater with a friend, and decide from there. If the snap-to targeting and wave survival click, the full game delivers more of the same. If it feels thin in the demo, it stays thin.
