About The Immortal
I've seen roguelikes with permadeath gimmicks before, but The Immortal leans hard into the one-hit-and-restart formula without much reward structure to justify it. You're running right through a 2D side-scroller, dodging and killing enemies, chasing the mythical land of Lung Cu. The damage model is pure spite: get touched once, restart the entire run. There's no checkpoints, no progression savings, no seasonal rewards to soften the blow. It's free, which is honest, but the execution feels incomplete. Enemy patterns are predictable enough once you memorize them, but the game doesn't give you much reason to keep grinding the same gauntlet over and over. If you want a punishing platformer that respects your time with actual progression hooks, look elsewhere. This one's got the skeleton of a game but not the spine. Yuki, Scout Team
