Midnight Legends
Neon-soaked combat racing with 30 flyable vehicles, 12 boss racers, and six distinct race modes - a cheap indie that punches slightly above its price tag for arcade fans.

About Midnight Legends
I went in expecting a throwaway impulse buy and came out surprisingly entertained. Midnight Legends drops you into Midnight City, a cyberpunk open-world setting built around arcade combat racing rather than anything approaching simulation. There are no tire-temperature models here, no tuning spreadsheets - just neon, boost, and the occasional cop car in your rearview mirror. That framing sets expectations correctly: this is closer to a budget Burnout with a sci-fi skin than any kind of serious racing game, and if you approach it on those terms you will find a lot more to like. The content roster is genuinely broader than the price implies. Thirty flying vehicles give the garage real variety, and a car upgrade loop - earn money from races, sink it back into performance and cosmetics - keeps the early hours moving. Twelve named boss racers each carry their own backstory, which is a fun structural hook even if the actual narrative is thin. The six competition modes cover different formats: midnight race, time trial, championship, domination, championship legends, and midnight contest. That variety prevents the whole thing from feeling like one repeated circuit, and the mode variety should keep a solo player occupied for a solid session or two before repetition sets in. The weak spots are worth knowing before you commit. The Steam community pool is small, which means bug fixes and patches have been infrequent - a handful of players have flagged achievements not triggering correctly, so completionists should note that going in. There is no multiplayer of any kind: this is a single-player-only game, so the couch-co-op crowd will need to look elsewhere. Controller support is confirmed and works well (keyboard plus mouse is a legitimate fallback per the official notes), but do not expect wheel-and-pedal compatibility - this is a gamepad-first arcade racer, and a proper wheel setup will feel wasted here. Visually the neon aesthetic does a lot of heavy lifting to make a modest budget look lively, though the top-down perspective keeps things closer to classic arcade than modern open-world racer. Bottom line: at its price point, Midnight Legends is a low-risk pick for anyone who wants a chill single-player arcade racer with a cyberpunk vibe and enough modes to stay interesting for a few evenings. Families looking for a couch party game, or anyone wanting competitive online play, should skip it. Solo players who grew up on top-down combat racers and want something easy to pick up and put down will get their money's worth without much argument from me. Riley, Scout Team
