A crystalline nightmare that turns Darkest Dungeon's farming sim into cosmic horror. Color of Madness is pure endgame content for players who've already broken the base game.

I've sunk 300 hours into Darkest Dungeon, so when the Farmstead DLC landed in 2018, I expected more of what broke me before. Instead, Red Hook gave us a roguelike-adjacent gauntlet where you're harvesting resources and fighting the same corrupted enemies in procedurally-shuffled waves until the comet consumes everything. It's less narrative dungeon-crawl and more relentless attrition: your roster will bleed, stress will mount, and permadeath means you're rebuilding constantly. The Color of Madness works if you want Darkest Dungeon stripped to its mechanical skeleton. No town downtime fluff, no story beats, just combat loops and resource management. But it's lonely content. There's no character growth narrative, the map resets every run, and the repetition that works in a roguelike feels thin when you're running the same fights for the tenth time. Solid for completionists burning out on the base game's structure. Everyone else should finish the main campaign first. Monika, Scout Team

Endgame grinding for Darkest Dungeon veterans; skip it if you haven't beaten the base campaign.
