The most technically convincing rally sim since Richard Burns Rally, but buy it now only if a thin content roster won't kill your weekend vibe.

My Saturday night co-op crew is not who this game was built for, and I respect it for that. Assetto Corsa Rally is a hardcore, uncompromising rally simulator where the physics model alone will humble even seasoned sim racers who have racked up hours in Dirt Rally 2.0 or EA Sports WRC. The weight transfer, grip loss on surface transitions, and FWD/RWD/AWD handling differences are modelled at a level that feels genuinely new for the genre. Real-world WRC driver Jon Armstrong consulted on tires, aerodynamics, and suspension to tighten up the handling model, and you can feel that input the moment you clip a blind crest and try to catch a slide. The stage roster has been growing through Early Access updates. Launch brought four laser-scanned real-world stages split across gravel Wales (Hafren North and South) and tarmac Alsace (Munster and Saverne), covering over 33 km of road. A December 2025 update added the Ghiacciodromo Livigno ice circuit with studded tire support, and the version 0.3 update in February 2026 landed two Monte Carlo stages - Col de Turini (18 km) and Sisteron (13 km) - alongside the Lancia Fulvia Coupe 1.6 HF Gr.4 and the SKODA Fabia RS Rally2. The Monte Carlo addition also introduced fully dynamic snow: temperature-driven, altitude-dependent snowfall that can shift a dry run into a tire-compound decision mid-stage. That is a genuine first for the genre. The car list now spans Group B icons like the Lancia Stratos Gr.4 and Lancia Rally 037 EVO 2, through Group A machinery like the Delta HF Integrale, up to modern Rally2-spec cars. Ten cars at launch with more arriving per update. Thin? Yes. Carefully chosen? Also yes. The co-driver pace note system deserves its own paragraph. Recorded with professional co-drivers using their actual voices, the calls feel tight and correctly timed rather than the half-second-late announcements that break immersion in lesser sims. The sound design overall - gravel patter against the wheel arches, engine note changing under load, the crunch when a door panel departs the car - was built from real vehicle recordings and it shows. Visually, this is the best-looking rally title available right now, running on Unreal Engine 5 with dynamic weather and day-night cycles. Mid-range hardware handles it respectably, though some UE5 shader stutter exists in early sessions. Hardware setup note for the rig crowd: triple screens, direct-input wheels, pedals, and shifters are all supported with optimized profiles, and force feedback is a clear step up from the original Assetto Corsa. Gamepad players can absolutely make it work - the Mini Cooper S Gr.2 is a good starting point - but expect to spend time in the input settings adjusting steering linearity and deadzone before it clicks. There is no split-screen, no co-op, and no console release yet, so this one lives and dies as a solo or online time-attack experience on PC. Modes include individual stages, full rally weekends, ACR Events with online leaderboards, Time Attack, and Free Practice. Career mode and a dedicated rally school are planned for the 1.0 release, which the developers target within 18 months of the November 2025 Early Access launch. The community sentiment sitting at 85 percent positive across nearly 4,000 Steam reviews is a solid signal for an Early Access sim, even with the content volume complaints that come up repeatedly.
