Puyo Puyo Tetris 2
If you enjoy either Puyo Puyo or Tetris on their own, this package gives you a ridiculous amount of puzzle content to sink into - but veterans of the first game will feel the sequel's lack of ambition almost immediately.

Acerca de Puyo Puyo Tetris 2
I went in expecting a tighter, more confident follow-up to one of the more unlikely puzzle crossovers in recent memory. What I got was more or less the same game with a new coat of paint, a fresh story, and one genuinely interesting new mode bolted on. That summary might sound dismissive, but the core here is strong enough that "same game, more content" is a reasonable pitch depending on where you're coming from. The foundation remains two separate puzzle engines running side by side. You pick Puyo Puyo - matching chains of colored blobs to dump garbage on your opponent - or standard Tetris with fast drops, holds, and T-spins, and the two can go head to head without either side being disqualified for playing differently. Swap mode alternates between both every twenty-five seconds mid-match, creating a frenetic split-focus challenge that rewards players who are comfortable in both styles. Fusion mode throws Puyos and Tetriminos onto the same board simultaneously, which sounds exciting in theory but plays sluggishly in practice and tends to feel muddled rather than clever. Big Bang mode, where you solve preset board configurations faster than your opponent, remains a quick-hit favorite. Party mode tosses in chaos items for casual groups. Ranked Puzzle League splits into separate Puyo, Tetris, and Skill Battle leagues, which is genuinely smart design for players who only care about one half of the equation. The marquee new addition is Skill Battle. You assemble a team of three characters, each carrying unique skills - health restoration, board cleanup, piece manipulation - and your combos deal HP damage rather than just racing to top out the opponent's screen. Equippable loot cards from Adventure Mode let you tune your squad's stats further. It sounds lightweight written down, and it mostly is, but the mode has an appealing messiness to it: balance is rough around the edges, grinding for cards can turn into a chore, and the auto-difficulty in Adventure Mode spikes in ways that feel arbitrary. Still, for players who want something beyond pure reflex competition, Skill Battle adds a layer that pure Tetris or Puyo games simply do not have. The Adventure Mode spans seven-plus chapters and over eighty levels across an overworld map, wrapping puzzle fights in a silly anime storyline about dimensional merging and memory loss. Skip the cutscenes and you miss almost nothing of gameplay value - the story is cheerful noise. Where Adventure earns its place is as a structured introduction to every mode in the package, including the comprehensive tutorial system that makes the game accessible to newcomers who have never played either franchise. The English voice acting attracts criticism - it leans hard into anime-yell territory and character quips repeat fast - but none of it interferes with the puzzle underneath. For PC players specifically, the Steam version launched with all post-launch character updates already included, meaning Sonic the Hedgehog and a wide additional roster are present from day one. Online ranked play is smooth, the lobby system is easy to use, and separate leagues mean you do not have to become a Puyo expert just to compete. The honest caveat: if you already own the original Puyo Puyo Tetris, the upgrade feels thin. If this is your entry point into the series, it is the better and more complete version of a genuinely fun puzzle package.
