Couch multiplayer gold buried inside a solo experience that runs out of steam in under two hours. The right company makes this a riot; the wrong context makes it feel like a broken calculator.

I spent more time theory-crafting optimal insult chains in this thing than I probably should admit, and that impulse tells you exactly who this game is built for. Oh...Sir!! The Insult Simulator is a turn-based verbal fighting game, structured like a classic 2D brawler complete with health bars, but where every attack is a sentence fragment you draft from a shared pool in the center of the screen. You and your opponent take turns pulling subjects, adjectives, conjunctions, and finishers, racing to assemble the most grammatically coherent and personally devastating insult before the 15-second timer runs out. Miss your window or leave a sentence unfinished, and you forfeit the turn entirely, which can be catastrophic when the match is close. The tactical layer is real, if narrow. Both players draw from the same central word pool, which means denial is a legitimate strategy: grabbing a conjunction like "and" before your opponent can use it to extend their chain is a genuine power move. Each of the eleven playable characters carries a fixed personal weakness, and hammering those weak spots multiplies your damage significantly. Shufflebottom crumbles if you go after his fashion sense; Mrs. Maggie cannot stand age-related jabs; Sir Knight is defenseless against modernity references. Landing combos by repeating the same subject category across consecutive rounds stacks bonus damage on top, and the continuation mechanic, represented by a "(...)" prompt, lets you carry an unfinished insult across turns for a bigger payoff at the cost of eating a free hit. When the phrase pool cooperates and the right fragments align, the resulting nonsense sentences are genuinely funny: the game originally grew out of a 42-hour game jam, and that scrappy energy still shows in how absurd the output gets. The problems are equally real. Character weaknesses are static and never randomized, so once you have memorized all eleven matchup tables the meta collapses into mechanical exploitation rather than improvised wit. The shared word pool is thin enough that within an hour of solo play you will recognize most fragments on sight, which kills the comedic surprise that powers the experience. The scoring can feel arbitrary too: a long but incoherent insult sometimes outdamages a precisely targeted short one, which frustrates players who actually try to read the rules. The CPU AI in Tournament Mode is inconsistent, occasionally chaining grammatical nonsense that somehow deals heavy damage while your carefully constructed burn lands for nothing. Unlocking the guest characters, which include Lo Wang, Serious Sam, and the Postal Dude, requires grinding the Tournament with multiple characters, which means replaying the same five-round bracket repeatedly before the roster feels complete. Online multiplayer exists with cross-platform support, but community activity has declined sharply since launch, so finding a match reliably is harder than it was at release. Here is the honest split: as a solo game, Oh...Sir!! has maybe two solid hours in it before repetition sets in hard. As a local couch game dropped into a party or passed between two people on a laptop, it punches well above its weight. The humor, the voice acting, the exaggerated British presentation, and the shared word denial mechanic all click in ways that feel genuinely interactive rather than just mechanical when there is a human opponent sitting next to you visibly sweating over how to insult your hat. Think of it the way you would a good Jackbox title: per-session fun, not a long-haul commitment. Mac users should also note the game is not compatible with macOS 10.15 Catalina or above, which is a real limitation worth checking before purchase. Diego, Scout Team
