That is the word I kept coming back to across multiple playthroughs of this denpa-rooted visual novel from WSS playground, where the entire premise folds the player into a relationship dynamic that quietly implicates you in someone's unraveling. You play as P-chan, the silent live-in manager and implied romantic partner of Ame, a hikikomori with a fragile mental architecture who has decided her ticket out of isolation is becoming the internet's most beloved streamer under the persona OMGkawaiiAngel. The goal, coldly stated, is one million followers in thirty days. The interface is doing a lot of heavy lifting and earns every compliment thrown at it. Rather than a traditional menu, everything happens on a pastel Windows 95-style desktop. You schedule Ame's day by clicking through desktop icons, track her four core stats (Stress, Affection, Mental Darkness, and follower count) through a Task Manager window, and receive her texts through an in-game messenger called JINE. When you ignore her messages, her stress climbs and her affection drops. When you push her into consecutive streaming sessions, the same happens. The simulation is always pointing back at you: every click carries weight, and the game knows you will eventually push too hard in the name of numbers. Managing Ame's stream content also factors in, since the topics she can cover are shaped by her daytime activities, meaning your daily schedule is both a resource-gathering loop and a character study. The multi-ending structure is where the game becomes genuinely absorbing. Over 27 distinct conclusions branch from combinations of Ame's stat levels and milestone triggers at the end of the 30-day run. Some are quick gut-punches that fire early, like Flatline, which locks in if you ignore her messages five times. Others, like the Dark Angel route, require grinding Ame to one million followers while deliberately keeping her stressed well past her breaking point. The true ending, Comment te dire adieu, sits locked behind completing nearly everything else, and when it opens it delivers a meta-narrative layer that recontextualises every previous playthrough. A Taiwanese reviewer compared this layered revelation structure to Undertale, and the comparison holds. Each run is short enough (an hour or two) that the grind to completion feels intentional rather than padded, though critics fairly note the repetition between runs can sand down some of the emotional impact. The honest warnings belong here, plainly. This game depicts self-harm, medication misuse, suicidal ideation, and psychological deterioration without softening any of it. The chiptune and vaporwave soundtrack shifts register alongside Ame's mental state in ways that are genuinely effective, moving from bubbly idol-pop into dissonant, static-laced passages as things deteriorate. That tonal architecture is one of the craft decisions I found most impressive. Where some critics push back is on the depth of player agency: the choice set can feel limited for something so emotionally ambitious, and whether the satire of parasocial internet culture lands as sharp commentary or leans too comfortably on shock depends heavily on how tuned in you are to the denpa and menhera aesthetic traditions the game is drawing from. If those subcultures are new to you, some of the intended resonance may arrive as provocation instead. This is not a comfortable game, and it is not trying to be. It is, however, a precise one. The desktop UI, the way Ame's public persona KAngel diverges from the person complaining to you on JINE, the small hidden files that surface only through specific endings, all of it feels considered. For players who understand what they are walking into, there is something here that lingers well past the credits of any individual run.
