A short narrative sim about saving a glitchy virtual idol. Lightweight, story-first, and over in a sitting or two.

AIdol is a casual narrative simulation from MysteryCorgi and ebi-hime in which a high school student races to prevent her beloved virtual idol, Aiko, from a full system meltdown. If you came here expecting spreadsheet depth or branching resource management, wrong room. This is a visual-novel-adjacent experience dressed in light sim clothing. The "simulation" label is technically accurate in the same way a screensaver is technically software. What the game does offer is a compact, self-contained story with a clear emotional hook. The premise, girl bonds with virtual pop star, pop star breaks, girl fixes her, is executed with enough charm to carry the short runtime. The writing leans into the parasocial relationship between fan and idol in a way that feels genuine rather than cringeworthy, and the art style is consistent and pleasant throughout. For the audience this targets, young players or fans of idol culture and light narrative games, those things matter more than decision trees or AI depth. As a strategy-and-sim specialist I feel obligated to be honest: the mechanical layer here is thin. There are no build orders, no late-game complexity, no mod ecosystem to speak of, and the tutorial is essentially unnecessary because there is almost nothing to learn. The Mixed Steam rating (68% positive from a small review pool) reflects a mismatch between player expectations and what the game actually delivers, not necessarily a broken product. People expecting a simulation with meaningful choices will bounce off immediately. Who should actually consider this? If you want a low-pressure story you can finish in one or two sittings, have an interest in virtual idol culture, or are shopping for something gentle to hand to a younger player, AIdol fits. The short runtime means commitment is low and the tone stays warm and accessible throughout. It is not a mechanically rich experience by any standard, but it is not pretending to be one either. Approach it as illustrated interactive fiction and the modest price of admission becomes easier to justify. The Mixed rating is worth acknowledging again before you click buy. A 66-review sample is small, and the gap between positive and negative responses tracks almost perfectly with genre expectation mismatch. Read a few of the negative reviews and see if their complaints apply to you. If "not enough gameplay" sounds like a dealbreaker, it is. If "cute story, finished it in one evening" sounds like a fine Tuesday night, you know what to do. Diego, Scout Team
