Scatty isn't exactly rolling out the welcome mat, so if you want what's inside his chest you're going to have to take it the old-fashioned way: pick the lock and hope he's not watching. Get yourself into his hut when he's not paying attention, crouch down, and use your lockpick on the chest. The skill check isn't brutal, but if your lockpicking stat is on the low end you might burn through a few picks before it pops open. Worth grabbing a handful of spares before you make your move.
Once you're in, the ring is yours for the taking. Just don't linger, because getting caught mid-theft in Gothic Remake has real consequences and Scatty will make your life difficult if he clocks you in the act. If you're struggling with the lockpicking minigame in general, this chest is actually decent low-stakes practice since the location gives you a bit of breathing room compared to some of the more exposed spots in the game. Get in, grab the ring, get out.
