Riot dropped a teaser this week that's sending the League of Legends community into full detective mode: a classic version of the game is coming, and basically nobody knows what that actually means yet. The teaser itself was light on details, which has fans arguing over everything from season one all the way up to season four as the target era. That's a pretty wide window, and each answer would produce a pretty different game, so the speculation is genuinely heated right now.
The full reveal is scheduled for roughly two weeks out, so we won't be in the dark for long. What's interesting here is that Riot is even doing this at all. League has been a living, constantly updated game for over a decade, and going back to dig up an older snapshot of it takes real commitment to preservation and nostalgia in equal measure. Whether this lands as a dedicated separate client, a rotating mode, or something else entirely is still anyone's guess. If you have fond memories of a League that felt faster or rougher or just different from whatever the current patch looks like, this is probably worth watching closely.
